Begin with one class and one assignment
Add your notes, slides, a permitted textbook or a problem set. For textbook homework, add the book first and then a schedule with section and problem numbers. Review the extracted questions before students use them.

The class overview shows which questions are drawing discussion, and AI summaries can help you inspect recurring concerns. These are starting points for your own judgment, rather than grades or proof of a student’s understanding.
Your feedback stays clearly yours
Leave feedback in the student conversation. Teacher messages are labeled separately from AI guidance, so a student can tell who is speaking. The tutor asks for an attempt and offers next steps; your instruction and course policies remain central.
Make the boundaries clear to students
Teachers can see conversations and attachments in their own classes. Students’ separate personal courses are not shared with teachers. Explain the visibility and your AI-use expectations before inviting a class. A teacher account is self-selected and is not school-verified identity.

Does Chalkchalk grade students?
No. Conversations, saved work and class summaries provide context for your feedback. They do not automatically grade or establish authorship.
What file formats can I add?
PDF, DOCX, PPTX, TXT, TEXT and Markdown. Office-file extraction reads text and tables; complex equation layout, image-only content and embedded objects may require a PDF or an image instead.
Can students also study on their own?
Yes. A student can have personal courses as well as teacher-led classes. Joining your class does not share their personal study work with you.
